yet again

Tuesday AM:
a huge, dead male possum with his tongue hanging out in my backyard
yet again
the need to change my status on paperwork from married to widowed 
yet again
a friend sending an encouraging text
again
a penny on the sidewalk, reminding me God sees me
again
how my day goes depends a lot on what I focus on...

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

Hebrews 12:1-2

"Therefore" means because of what has just been written, what follows is relevant. Hebrews 11 is a record of people who lived by faith.

 "Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses". 

For years I thought these were people in heaven who were watching my walk of faith. That they were cheering me on. And perhaps that is true. But I have grown to be convinced that perhaps it may be more true that they are witnesses of God's faithfulness in their lives and that encourages and reminds me that He has been, currently is and in the future will be faithful in my life.
