we know the moon is not the tiny sliver that we can see in the sky tonight

we know that it is always whole,

even when the majority of it is hidden in shadow

but,

if we didn't know that there phases to it,

and this is all we saw,

we might easily be led to believe that is all there is...

when we look at people,

especially strangers or new acquaintances,

take care when forming opinions and alliances

there's usually more to a person than what meets the eye

we have no idea how much of them is hidden in shadow

intentionally or unintentionally

we all go through phases and it takes time to see more fully
