heading to the ends of the earth-
When Deborah and David first went to Salekhard in August, 2012.
Andrew told them,
"I am coming to see you in May 2015 for a month. Mark it down."
A lot has changed since he made that promise,
things that mean he will not be making the trip alone.
He got married so Bre will be joining him;
when Deborah and David were granted their three year residency they decided to build a home there.
That makes it easier for a group to go.
When Andrew started making good on his promise,
he asked if I wanted to join them.
It seems surreal.
Three summers ago I couldn't leave my house without a struggle.
Two summers ago I was recovering from an auto accident.
Last summer Bill and I went to a Florida beach.
This summer I am joining Andrew and Bre.
I am going to Russia.
To Siberia.
Northern Siberia.
On the Arctic Circle Siberia.
To the Yamal region.
The word Yamal translates "To the ends of the earth."
Bill was with me through the summer from hell, 2012.
Bill was with me throughout the summer of recovery, 2013
Bill was with me as we celebrated the beginning of a new chapter of our lives, summer 2014.
Bill and I planned to make a trip to Siberia together.
That obviously is not an option now.
I am thankful that God provided an opportunity for Bill to go with Deborah in September 2013.
It was a highlight of his life.
As strange as it may sound, it would be much harder to go if he had never been able to make that trip.
I am thankful God planted the dream in Andrew's heart to go.
I am thankful Deborah and David have a home so they can host us.
We leave for Pittsburg tomorrow afternoon.
We fly out Wednesday at 10:37 AM and will arrive in Salekhard Friday.
(Pittsburg-Chicago-Frankfort and arrive in Moscow at 11:45 AM Thursday. Overnight stay. Then fly into Salekhard Friday.)
In four weeks, Tuesday June 9 we will leave Salekhard and fly to Moscow so that Wednesday June 10, we can leave Moscow at 5:45 AM and arrive in Pittsburg Wednesday at 5:10 PM.
(Moscow -Munich-Newark-Pittsburg)
I am thankful the Funk's are taking care of stuff here while I am gone.
I am not sure how well the Internet service works in Yamal, so, if I don't post, it doesn't mean I have fallen off the end of the earth.
God willing, I will be back. With lots of good stuff to share.
