Costa Rica 106

Sunday
Bob and Janet are a couple who mentored Carlos and Rasia when they first came to Costa Rica. They worked together 7 years. Bob and Janet used goats to begin their ministry. They would give a pair of goats to a family to supplement the family’s nutrition with milk and cheese. It provided a practical way to improve life and opened opportunities to share the gospel.

Bob is a veterinarian. He has teams come throughout the year to do clinics. They had a team come in on Saturday.

We went to Pasteje to meet Bob and Janet and worship with their team. Driving into the property there was a tangible sense of peace. The road is mostly made up of large stones so it was a bit bumpy. The chapel on the property overlooks a valley. All of the lumber for the chapel came from the property. Beautiful is a word that does not do the view or the experience justice.

We shared lunch and enjoyed a couple of relaxing hours. It was fun to watch groups talking or playing card games. I went back down to the chapel and spent time sitting alone. Reading. Praying. Thinking. Seeking. Healing.

We came back to the homestead to change clothes so we could head to a downtown park. Before we began the ministry aspect of our evening Andrew took our team to Cosechas. The girls ordered fresh fruit smoothies, the guys had milkshakes. Andrew chose cafe mocha and Donald’s was chocolate banana. I enjoyed sipping my smoothie made with strawberry, pineapple and mango as I sat on a concrete, tiered wall and prayed. For the males, that they would come to know Jesus and be strong men of God. For the women, especially the young girls, a hedge of protection-that they would know their value in Christ and not settle for being used by a man. Some of our group sang. Some walked and prayed, some played basketball. One ministry with many different faces, many different venues, one purpose-that God's love would be shared.
