Fantasy Football

Bill was an athlete.
He enjoyed watching any and all sports.
He played baseball from the time he was able to join Akron's Little League through graduation from Akron University.

He was serious about Fantasy Football.
(Those who competed against him may say that is an understatement.)
It was one of the few fun things he gave himself time to indulge in.
Every year, with money he received for his birthday, he purchased Fantasy Football guides and studied them, preparing for "the draft."
He was part of two leagues-
one at Oak Grove Church of Christ and the other at KCU.
He had a pretty good record of winning the KCU competition.
(Rumor has it that someone got a hold of his draft from the OG draft last year to use for the KCU draft. :)

Tonight is the Fantasy Football draft at Oak Grove.
I had forgotten he went last year and drafted his team.
Which makes my heart smile and my face leak.
I just found out that each week whoever was scheduled to play against him benched their team in his honor.
Bill finished the 2014 season undefeated.

He also finished life undefeated.
I echo Paul's words as a testament to Bill's life.

2 Timothy 4:6&7
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will award me on that Day, and not only to me, but to all who have loved His appearing."

1 Corinthians 15:50-58
"I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall all be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
"Death is swallowed up in victory."
"O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
